Queer City
A one-day celebration to commemorate queer individuals. A first-of-its-kind pop-up museum featuring stories and objects that span 80 years of queer life in NYC.
CNN Courageous, in partnership with sponsors P&G and BMW, created a unique pop-up museum and multi-media exhibit called Queer City: A CNN Experience to honor the lives and experiences of queer individuals in NYC during WorldPride 2019/NYC Pride. Within just four months of preparation, we collected over 300 artifacts that depicted what life was like for the queer community in New York City from 1940 to the present day. The exhibit’s main focus was on personal stories and objects, making it personal, celebratory, and brave. The final result was a stunning exhibit that was engaging, heartfelt, and meaningfully centered around human connection.
